"Greene Acres is a community garden on the corner of Greene and Franklin Avenues in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. On the land that is now Greene Acres, there were once brownstones. Those homes burned and were demolished in the 1970s. It was briefly a community garden in the 1980s and again was reestablished in the early 2000s. In September 2012, the garden adopted Rhode Island Red hens. “The girls,” as they have come to be known, quickly charmed the garden and the neighborhood. We have a dedicated committee of “Chicken Tenders” who look after the chickens all year round and they also host "chicken chats." www.greeneacresgarden.com www.instagram.com/greeneacrescommunitygarden (Photo from @greeneacrescommunitygarden on Instagram) Scouted by Melanie Kahl
