Cense de l'Alouette Wine Estate, 'Pachthoeve van de Leeuwerik', was founded by the Staelens family in 2018. On 1 hectare, they planted 6 grape varieties: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, Pinot Blanc Auxerrois, Acolon, and Syrah. Winemakers Jan Staelens and Sebastian Braet specialize in still single-varietal wines. In Nieuwkerke, the family is building a new tasting room with a 360-degree view of the Flemish Witness Hills and France. A large wine cellar featuring an experience trail around wine – MineWin – is also under construction. The entire production takes place on the estate. Premium wines such as the Cuvée Leon (Pinot Noir) and Cuvée Denise (Chardonnay) easily find their way to the wine consumer. You are always welcome by appointment, including for the tastings. The estate is family-run and presents itself as a pleasant and relaxing environment. This small scale allows the family the space to make time for you. The estate is situated on various cycling and walking routes at the crossroads between Flanders, Wallonia, and France.
