Rocher Bayard stands like a tall narrow blade of limestone at the edge of Dinant where the road slips through the gap beside it so the rock feels both sudden and natural in the landscape. Its steep sides catch the light differently throughout the day which makes the formation stand out against the softer shapes of the river and the surrounding hills. Seen from the road or the water it rises cleanly from the ground and creates a striking landmark that marks the entrance to the town without feeling separate from the cliffs around it.
