Deborah Danner (1950–2016) was a 66-year-old Black woman from the Bronx, New York, who became a central figure in discussions regarding police reform and mental health after she was fatally shot by NYPD Sergeant Hugh Barry on October 18, 2016. Danner, who lived with schizophrenia, was experiencing a mental health crisis in her apartment when police were called to the scene.
