Montale is the third tower of San Marino and it stands on the most remote peak of Mount Titano. It was built in the fourteenth century and it served as a lookout point that helped protect the republic. The tower has a narrow structure with a single entrance placed high above the ground which made it harder for attackers to reach. Unlike the other two towers Montale is not open to the public but visitors can reach the area around it and enjoy quiet paths and views of the surrounding hills.
