Founder Godfrey Reinhardt lived on one side of this 1760 building and bartered dry goods on the other—eggs and butter for sugar and flour—in what was then New Germantown. The wide-plank floors still creak beneath customers who come for legendary deli sandwiches piled high with fresh-sliced meats, breakfast biscuits, and daily-baked bread that pack the 65-seat dining room. Chef Sam Freund keeps the heart of Hunterdon County's oldest gathering place beating strong.
