What began as Carl Luger's Café, Billiards and Bowling Alley in 1887 has evolved into New York City's third-oldest operating steakhouse, a Williamsburg institution that still dry-ages its hand-selected USDA Prime beef on the premises. The James Beard Foundation named it an America's Classic in 2002, cementing a reputation built over more than a century of serving porterhouse steaks beneath brass chandeliers and exposed wooden beams. Walk past the long wooden bar today and you'll find the same Teutonic dining rooms where generations have gathered over perfectly charred, butter-basted beef.
