Over 70 flavors of super-premium ice cream fill the vintage soda fountain glasses at this Newton institution, where three generations have watched their sundaes take shape under Coca-Cola red pendant lights. Joe and Catherine Prestejohn opened the parlor in 1969 after their Brighton restaurant burned down, trading their liquor license for old-fashioned ice cream and all-day breakfast. The sundaes still arrive in those classic glasses, piled high with hot fudge and whipped cream.
