The beer has flowed without interruption since 1860 at McGillin's Olde Ale House, tucked down Drury Street as Philadelphia's oldest continuously operating tavern. Founded by Irish immigrants Catherine and William McGillin shortly after the Liberty Bell cracked, this pub survived the Civil War, Prohibition, and 166 years of changing tastes while pouring over 30 drafts beneath walls thick with vintage Philadelphia memorabilia. The worn bar and century-old atmosphere pull regulars and pilgrims alike through the same door that opened before Lincoln took office.
