The waffle cone was born here when Abe Doumar rolled the world's first one at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair, then brought his invention home to Norfolk. Still family-run, Doumar's cranks out handmade cones on the original 1905 iron alongside North Carolina-style pork barbecue and fresh-squeezed limeades at a retro drive-in where carhops deliver straight to your window. The cone machine still works, and watching it is half the reason to come.
