Jack Durant, a former minor league ballplayer and Las Vegas pit boss, opened his namesake steakhouse in 1950 and brought theatrical flair, mob mystique, and one unforgettable quirk: guests enter through the kitchen, not the front door. The crimson booths, dim lighting, and 48-ounce porterhouse have hosted everyone from Marilyn Monroe to Phoenix power brokers across seven decades. Today, under the Mastro family stewardship since late 2025, the vintage glamour endures—right down to the back-door entrance and the martinis that still flow like it's 1964.
