Chris Cardillo worked the counter here at nineteen, left, and came back in 2015 to buy the place—an old-school Italian deli where dried salami and aged cheeses dangle from the ceiling and three types of pasta get rolled fresh every morning. The lineage stretches back to Anthony Scicchitano's Brooklyn pork store in 1948, but it's the housemade sausage, hand-pulled mozzarella, and gluten-free rigatoni made on-site that keep Thornwood coming back.
