The Snake Pit • 1879

At the fork of the Coeur d'Alene River, this weathered landmark has poured drinks since 1879, cycling through lives as a boom-town saloon, railroad layover, hotel, and house of ill repute. Loggers and miners once gathered here before heading into Idaho's backcountry, and today's walls tell their stories through decades of donated memorabilia. The Rocky Mountain Oysters and house-smoked meats still draw both old-timers and curious travelers to a bar that predates Idaho statehood.
