Tivoli Bar and Grill • 1885

The original wooden bar at Tivoli Bar and Grill was crafted in Boston and shipped around Cape Horn to San Diego, where it has served drinks since 1885 — making this Gaslamp Quarter saloon the oldest continuously operating bar in the city. Wyatt Earp once bellied up to the same counter that stands today, and the first cash register ever installed still sits on display. The upstairs rooms tell a grittier story: before Tivoli opened, the building housed a brothel, feed store, and blacksmith shop in its earliest decades.
