Miller's Smorgasbord Restaurant • 1929

When Anna Miller served chicken and waffles to truckers waiting for her husband Enos to fix their rigs in 1929, she launched what became Lancaster County's original smorgasbord. The dish that built Miller's reputation remains on the expansive buffet today alongside Pennsylvania Dutch classics like the restaurant's famous "seven sweets and seven sours," peel-and-eat shrimp, carved meats, and chocolate pecan pie baked on-site. Nearly a century later, the award-winning spread still draws crowds who pile their plates high with scratch-made comfort food in a dining room overlooking Amish farmland.
