Zvika and Debbie Akin brought New York deli culture to San Diego's Alvarado Road in 1980, building a menu that now spans over 130 sandwiches. The legendary "fresser" — Yiddish for "one who eats" — towers with 16 slices of pastrami, turkey, corned beef, and roast beef on rye, easily feeding two or three. Classic matzo ball soup, house-baked rugelach, and old-school fountain sodas complete the picture.
