The Stockyards Steakhouse • 1947

Born on the grounds of the world's largest cattle feedlot in 1947, this Phoenix institution rose from Edward A. Tovrea's sprawling 40,000-head operation to become the gathering spot where cattlemen, bankers, and politicians clinked glasses over hand-cut aged steaks. Arizona's Original Steakhouse still serves prime rib and dry-aged beef in a painstakingly restored room now listed on the City of Phoenix Historical Register. The Old West charm remains intact, down to the last leather booth.
