In the heart of Philadelphia's Italian Market, this 1899 landmark once sheltered Italian immigrants who arrived at the docks with only the restaurant's name pinned to their lapels, finding lodging upstairs and work in the kitchen below. Housed in two converted townhouses, Dante & Luigi's Corona di Ferro serves the same traditional recipes that fed generations—lasagna, osso buco, and ricotta gnocchi made as they were over a century ago. The dining rooms still carry the weight of those early days, when every plate was a taste of home for families rebuilding their lives in a new country.
