When Joseph opened this pizzeria on July 4, 1942, and named it for his oldest son Johnny, he launched what would become Mount Vernon's most enduring pizza institution. The cracker-thin crust pies—sold whole, never by the slice—have drawn three generations of devotees to this Yankees shrine, where wood-paneled walls overflow with pennants and photos of the Bronx Bombers. Cash only, pie only, and still run by the same family that's been rolling dough here for over eight decades.
