Ruby's Diner • 1982

A converted bait shack perched at the end of Balboa Pier, Ruby's Diner opened on December 7, 1982, surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and anchored by a simple promise: the highest quality burgers, fries, and shakes. The retro 1940s atmosphere and "Make Room for Everyone" service motto turned this Newport Beach original into a multigenerational gathering spot. Four decades later, the pier location still draws crowds for thick shakes and ocean views from the same spot where it all began.
