Planetarium Franeker (UNESCO) is a historic planetarium in the town of Franeker in the Netherlands. It was created in the eighteenth century by Eise Eisinga who built a working model of the solar system on the ceiling of his living room using precise mechanics. The planets move in real time and the system still functions today which makes it the oldest operating planetarium in the world. The building has an authentic atmosphere with period rooms and its unique interior makes it a remarkable photo spot and an important UNESCO site that showcases Dutch scientific heritage.
