In line with recommendations within the draft Regional Food Systems Framework, Food Links has further strengthened the local food system through collaborative community engagement and education with existing regional community gardens, community food programs, local food producers/ farmers and stakeholders. The aim was to encourage more in our community to ‘Eat Well, Be Well’, grow/eat their own food or food locally grown and eat seasonally. The program was rolled out in various locations around the Mount Alexander Shire.

The Edgy Veg project in Mount Alexander Shire was a community-driven initiative that celebrated local food and encouraged healthier eating by showcasing creative, vegetable-rich dishes across the Shire.
In Mount Alexander, the project supported 4 clubs to offer healthier food and drink choices at their canteens and kiosks by providing free canteen equipment, menu changes and support from the the HLC Health Broker and linked into the local Vic Kids Eat Well health promoter.
