Investigating and supporting healthy eating at Macedon Ranges Shire Council recreation facilities in Gisborne and Kyneton.
Working closely with the Macedon Ranges Shire Council Early Years team, this project will provide workshops on road safety and bike skills to interested kindergartens and Early Childhood Education Centre's, with special consideration given to embedding a supportive cycling culture across services.
HLC worked with Kyneton Community House to implement a community gardening project that strengthened food security, social connection, and healthy eating across Macedon Ranges Shire.
Rainbow Physical Activities engaged over 35 young people through Pride Crews and delivered inclusive events during Pride Month, including a Rainbow Pool Party and walking group.
This project brings together the right mix of representatives from council, community health, sustainability, food relief, agriculture, retail, education and social support groups and organisations to form the Macedon Ranges Food Coalition to drive local actions arising from Flourish.
Activity Positive Signs and Walk This Way decals, along with a First Nations Story Walk, will enhance the Kyneton River Walk by promoting positive use of public spaces and celebrating local Indigenous culture.

To pilot ‘growing your own’ in Macedon Ranges Shire by installing and showcasing edible gardens on verges and by supporting households to establish low maintenance edible garden beds in their own backyards, providing opportunities for neighbourhood socialisation and enhancing food security.
In line with recommendations within the draft Regional Food Systems Framework, the project involved the installation of wicking beds at the Woodend Permaculture at the Community Centre. These funds also supported the setup of the new community pantry at Woodend.
