Your guide to the 2024 Riverland Rose & Garden Festival Events and Attractions.
Prepare yourselves for a wonderful experience when you visit the institute this year. Stroll along the garden paths experiencing ‘garden rooms’ displaying tropical, cottage, native/arid, and orchard themes, with beautiful floral arrangements to complement these. There are places to rest and relax, absorb the scents and displays that surround you, maybe lose yourself from the rush of the world for a moment.
The Renmark Club are excited to be involved in the Riverland Rose and Garden’s 30th anniversary celebrations. Guests will be treated to a magical night with Champagne on arrival, followed by a 4-course meal and complimentary wine. Head to the Renmark Club’s website (www.renmarkclub.com.au) to book tickets.
Created by local artistic experts, Carole Walker and Kathy Elliot, they are again in the process of developing another visually spectacular display around the theme, “At the Bottom of the Garden”. Experienced floral art judge, Alethia Quick, will be revealing the latest trends in her craft, with a free demonstration for adults and a free hands-on workshop for young budding gardeners.
Horticulturalist, author and media personality presenter Sophie Thomson, will be officially opening the festival at 10.30am. This popular event will once again be providing a great variety of stalls with delectable cakes, biscuits and condiments, rustic garden art, garden supplies, crafted jewellery, candles, giftware, and much more. Wander the 50 + stalls, take in the great views and treat yourself to the great food and coffee available.
Enjoy the highlights of the gardens from manicured lawns, to a country-style garden featuring quirky garden art and an immaculately presented cottage garden. Also visit a garden with sprawling lawns under large deciduous trees, with roses scattered throughout. Bookings essential.
Jenny has established this cottage-style garden around her gift shop/café over the past seven years. There are many private seating areas tucked away outside for you to enjoy, plus indoor seating. The garden includes a 20ft bridge, ponds, birds, cubbyhouse, perennials, and annuals. Be inspired by the array of handmade rustic garden creations throughout. Morning/afternoon teas and lunches available.
All sorts of crafts and quilts for sale. Beautiful handmade goods by local ladies. Trading tables. Aprons, bags, quilts, cushions, and much more for sale. Toilets available.
Sandy Edmonds is a talented self-taught potter who has turned a beloved hobby into a local business showcasing her work in the Riverland and online. In her spare time, Sandy immerses herself in the world of pottery — an enjoyable continuous cycle of making, drying, firing, glazing, and firing again! A labour of love that fills her days with creativity and joy.
Renmark Uniting Church will be holding a Devonshire morning tea, A trading table will have goods for purchase.
Take advantage of Gary and Yvette’s extensive knowledge of the unique ecosystem that the wetlands hold. Take a tour for free, just be there before 10.30am to get a seat — maximum 4 guests per vehicle, no prior booking needed. Take a look in Yvette’s ‘Tractor Shed’ studio, international equine artist.
The art on display is produced by a group of enthusiastic, over 55 Riverlanders. Meeting once a week, in Berri, to learn and enjoy creating a diversity of artwork. We hope you enjoy this diverse exhibition, buy a painting to encourage an artist, and join our group if you have an interest in painting and live locally. The exhibition is located in the Renmark Paringa Council chambers exhibition room.

A revolving nightly light show will be displayed on Barmera’s Bonney Theatre wall, showcasing images of the past and present Festival gardens and events. The digital mural will show from 7pm to 9pm every night of the festival and is presented by Berri Barmera Council.
Join the Riverland Musical Society in celebrating 70 years of musical performances with a captivating rendition of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Evita’. Experience the passion and politics of Argentina’s iconic first lady, Eva Perón, in this powerful musical. Are you into needlework? Come along and chat to ladies from the Patch Chat Group about quilting and stitching. View some of their completed works on display amongst the beautiful surrounds of Nookamka Gardens. Local embroidery designer Amanda Burnim (her own designs published in Homespun magazine) will be attending and showcasing a few of the designs from her September retreat.
The Riverland Orchid Society will present four demonstrations over two days on dividing and repotting orchids at Nookamka Gardens in Barmera.
Join this workshop with Joy to assemble and plant a succulent turtle. Cost includes materials, succulent and workshop demonstration on how to make your own. $80 per person, morning tea included — payment required when booking. Spaces limited to 12. For people over 18 years-old.

Come join us in the park for a special Music and Movement session during the Riverland Rose and Garden Festival! Come along to sing some songs and hear some stories! This is an open event for babies up to pre-school aged kids to come along with their families. Don’t forget to bring along some fruit or a snack to eat during story time!

Visit our newly expanded Loxton High School Agriculture Block to see how plants, produce and animals are integrated into our year 7 to 12 curriculum. Learn about our new state-of-the-art greenhouse which houses a robotic vegetable garden, hydroponic systems and plant propagation sites. Hands on education includes running livestock, harvesting fruit and produce, and composting animal and plant waste. Plant stall.
There Are Always Flowers For Those Who Want To See Them Exhibition by Nicole Honey showcases the unique and resilient flora of the Murray Mallee region in a fun and vibrant way, the exhibition brings focus to threatened species, and the importance of regeneration and caring for country.

This year the Loxton Historical is combining its Garden and Alive Day on Saturday 26 October. Come and enjoy our beautiful gardens along with Geraldton Wax grower Jetty Baks from Lameroo, demonstrating and selling her native floral. Riverland Vintage and classic cars, working exhibits, Devonshire tea and various food stalls, kid’s craft, photo booth, tractor parade, and much more.
