The Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde is dedicated to the maritime life of the Vikings and displays five original ships that were recovered from the nearby fjord. The halls show how the vessels were built used and preserved which gives a clear look into daily travel and warfare during the Viking age. Outside you can watch craftsmen work with wood tar and rope in open workshops that follow old techniques. The museum also offers sailing trips in reconstructed ships which makes the visit feel active and closely tied to the landscape around the fjord.
