The Alte Donau is a former branch of the Danube that has become one of Vienna’s most popular spots for swimming and stand up paddling. The water is clean calm and surrounded by green banks small docks and quiet recreational areas that create a relaxed lakeside atmosphere. Visitors can rent SUP boards rowing boats and pedal boats or simply enjoy swimming in clear open water. Along the shore there are cafés restaurants bathing areas and small piers where people sunbathe or watch the sunset. The Alte Donau is easy to reach from the city center and it offers a peaceful escape with a mix of sports leisure and nature.
