The Botanical Garden of the University of Vienna is located next to the Belvedere and it is known for its peaceful atmosphere diverse plant collections and scientific importance. The garden was founded in the eighteenth century and today it contains thousands of plant species from different climate zones including tropical plants alpine species medicinal herbs and rare protected varieties.
